Good point Mike.  I am hoping that someone will do a study, reflecting the
gas prices of the 50 most contested races vs their local gas pricing.  This
thought came to me when my wife ended a discussion with her parents, in
Ohio, and asked me why their prices were a dollar cheaper than ours.  Our
state, Idaho can not get any redder than the most red of red.  It would not
matter politically if the prices were unchanged.  Wyoming is the same way.
Ohio however is a critical swing state, and well constested.  Based on my
unfounded premise, you would expect Ohio to have lower prices.
