According to my Nebraska tractor list database, the LA tested in 1952 had
58.6 PTO HP on gas and 59.6 PTO HP on LP. It also developed 6874 lbs of
drawbar pull when ballasted to 11015 lbs! (52 HP)
Looking at other tractors built tested between 1934 and 1952: the Case LA,
MH 55, Oliver 99, MM G and Cockshutt 50 all had more than 55 PTO HP with the
MH 55 winning by having almost 67 PTO HP and 57 db HP in 1951. Biggest
engine was JD D at 501 CI, Oliver 99 gas at 443, JD R at 415, and JD G at
412, then the Case L and MM G having 403.

>From those tested prior to 1941, the MM Twin City GT had 55 PTO HP, IH W9
had 49, then the Case L had 47, although the Case was burning distillate and
the others burning gas to get those figures.

In answer to Dudley's question about the largest farm tractor during (or
prior) to WWII, there is a question that needs to be asked. Here in
California where Crawler tractors were and are commonly used in the farm
fields, the Cat D8 of that era was actually quite common. The drawbar HP
(the only way it was rated) exceeded 100HP. Even earlier there were quite a
few 100HP plus steam tractors used in the great plains and California. Those
Steam tractors were wheel tractors.
I don't remember without going in to disturb my wife's nap how many HP
the Oliver 90 had, but that also was offered prewar, I think it was in the
same range as the Case LA.
