[AT] firewood

I have a great source for some of my firewood. A tree service that I know
occasionally gets a job where the homeowner doesn't have any use for the
wood and just wants it hauled away. The tree guys call me and I show up with
truck and trailer and they even help me load it. I get all sorts of wood
this way - some really good and some not so good. The garbage gets used for
campfires and bonfires and the rest is burned in the fireplace. I got some
of the biggest Sassafras I've ever seen about a month ago from them. The log
was about 24" diameter and they had already cut it into firewood lengths
before I got there or I would have saved it to saw a few boards out of. The
nicest stuff to split is Ash and it is almost as good as Oak when it come to
how long it burns. My grandpa used to say "everyone likes a nice piece of
ash". :-)
I have about a cord of Ash, 2 cords of Oak, and 2 cords of Maple that still
needs split.
