[Ford-ferguson] 1952 Ford Tractor 8N

Leak down is usually attributed to the lift cylinder. If you replace the
o-ring, (or Piston and o-ring if it is the older 3 ring version) and hone
the cylinder if there are any bad scratches, I think your problem will be
gone.
