Ken, I agree with Lou. The camshaft and lifters is the most highly
loaded area of the motor. When reassembling a new motor, they must be
installed in the same location if worn, or reground professionly.
A failure would be catistropic, sending particles worn from both thru
the oiling system, probably taking out the crankshaft bearings, etc. I
use S.T.P. on the new cam and followers when installing them. Not too
much S.T.P. though, It can prevent the rings from seating properly.
