Put a volt meter on it.

Rog just told me the same thing. That would work except that my brand new
battery for the 60 has no
caps, just a really nice carrying handle on top. So with a smooth top
battery, how can you tell the # of cells?

Multiply the number of cells by 2. That will give you the voltage. You
ask, how do I know how many cell. Each hole that you put water into is a
cell.

Other than lifting them in and out of old tractors, I don't have much to do
with batteries. They never seem to have any wording on the label to
identify the voltage. What is an easy way to identify 6, 8 and 12 volt
batteries?

Thanks

Dick
