[Steam-engine] Hand valve preference

   Hello;
Been told by a very knowledgeable source that "Globe" type hand valves are 
the preferred valve to use with feedwater piping.  Now everywhere I read it 
states that "Gate" valves are less restrictive in regards to pressure drop.

   Would someone please set me straight here...hope I didn't re-open up that 
can of worms!!!
