[AT] Termites in your mulch?

I believe I took a picture of one drilling into a log in our woodpile last
year. It was a strange looking thing sort of resembling a mosquito with a
LARGE needle boring from behind and under it's body into the wood. I'll have
to look and see if I still have a copy of it.

No.  I caught one around 16 years ago and took it to the university and had
one of the faculty members of the biology department look at it.  He didn't
know what it was and didn't seem too concerned about it.  And I didn't
bother taking any pictures of it.  I wish now that I had.

Larry,
Got a picture of this critter? I have an acquaintance who is a bug
specialist at OARDC who might be able to ID it and help with a treatment for
it.
