John,
I have my father's Super Av with the serial number of FAA33711 which I know
for a fact is a 1943 model. It is tagged as a model AAV on the serial
number tag as your's is. The only other marking was the round tag on the
hood indicating it's model

Subject: [Farmall] Farmall AV
I recently aquired a Farmall AV, ser.# 66675. That would make it a 1941,
which I believe is the first year that the AV (high crop) was made. The
serial numbers on the plate and enging are matching. The serial plate shows
the model to be A and the serial # is FAA 66675. According to Guy Day's
data book, at least the serial # should be preceeded with FAAV. Nowhere on
the tractor is the V stamped. Is it possible/probable that the early AV
tractors did not have the AV designation? Another possibility could be that
the tractor was sold as an A and the dealer or owner/farmer added the 36"
rear tires and wheels and tall front spindles and 19" front tires. Anyone
have any knowledge on this? John
