[AT] Greenville OH Show

I went to both shows for a while on Saturday, and enjoyed them both. Live
steam is always fascinating, and the Thresher's show also had some folks
using old gas tractors to cut, bind, and haul wheat (think it was wheat, I
didn't really look close come to think of it) in to be threshed, and then
plowing and harrowing the field. Really nice to see.

But the antique power show at the fairgrounds was also really nice. Lot
more gas tractors and swapmeet stuff, which is always fun. And I got to
visit briefly with some of the Dotsons while Gene was on his Case LA,
powering the sawmill. I took some pictures of Gene on the LA but managed to
lose them by being a dumb s.o.b. with my computer. Anyway, it's still a
very nice size show.

I attended a couple of times in past years when the steam and gas tractor
groups were still together at the fairgrounds. This year's setup is clearly
way better for the steam folks, much more room to do stuff. The gas show on
the fairgrounds seemed perfectly healthy too, at least to a casual observer
like me. The two showgrounds are only 15 minutes apart or so, something
like that. At first I thought "too bad they scheduled both shows for the
same weekend," but then I decided it was better that way--if they'd been on
different weekends I doubt I'd have come to both. Clearly some bad blood
between the groups but I don't know and don't care to know the details...
seems like both shows are going to succeed, and both are still going to be
interesting to me.
