[AJD] electrolysis

Mitch,

Just completed one 16" JD rim in a 45 gallon plastic barrel and it worked fine and came remarkably clean. I had only one 12 gage copper wire lead attached to the rim with a 1/2 bolt with lock washers for conductivity. In the past, I have had as many as three items in the barrel all from the same negative lead on my charger. To make the three connections, I used one main connection and then used the slip fittings used for electrical lighting connections to connect the other two parts. My problems with the electrolysis process has been with the size of the positive grid and keeping it clean enough to allow continued continuity, for the rim, I had to clean off the grid at least 4 times over a one month period. Hope this is of some help...

I had a first hand viewing of the electrolysis process yesterday while visiting with Tom Smith in Mt. Airy, MD. It brought to mind a question on the process. Does it cause a problem if you were to connect more than one lead on the negative side to an item in the tank? I'm thinking of setting up a deep tank similar to Tom's and want to put some 16 inch rims in the solution. Just seems that more than one negative connection might help.
