[AT], now auctions

Thats very unusual to get over-looked by the auctioneer when your bidding. I
have on occasion seen it happen here on small fast selling items where some
bidder makes a last minute bid from way back in the crowd but gets missed.
Not on the big items though. The auctioneer and ringmen will drag it out to
the last dollar bid and everybody is just wishing he would move on to the
next item.
Regarding the hat throwing, I've seen the opposite happen here. There is one
auction company that will open up a box of brand new hats (with the auction
company name on them) and fling one out in the crowd every now and then just
to keep people's attention. It works pretty good, free advertisng for the
auctioneer and free hats for those lucky enough to catch a hat. Plus it
keeps more of the crowd watching the auctioneer and whats being sold.
