[AT] Onan Charging system help needed

I worked on the ONAN Yesterday and found that the rectifier was missing, not
the regulator. I have 3 wsires coming from the stator.. However, I do not
have 36 volts AC available. It is more like 13. I used a diode bridge and
attached the negative side of it to the engine block and now have DC, but
even with putting full voltage on the field, there is only 12.6 volts
charging. Probably the stator is bad or something. I probably will just
put an old automotive regulator on it and forget the flywheel alternator
crap.. I spent most of the day on this thing, and it is just too much
time.

The engine is good in the cylinders, I checked them The valves are sealing,
and are adjusted with proper clearance. However this is a factory engine
pump combination and the engine will not pump near full volume. The
throttle is at the side open position, It is a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 Gorman Rupp
pump and it is cut down to 2 inch intake and 1 1/2 outlet, and the engine is
severely loaded. It will however run quite well when switched over to the
fire nozzle at 5/16 diameter and run at 125 lbs. I got 125 lbs pressure
after rebuilding the carburetor, installing new points and adjusting, and
then changing over to H8 plugs...I am running super unleaded. The only
thing I have not tried is adjusting the timing by moving the point box...
