[AT] 3 phase problem,some wire tags removed.....

Dudley;

I can't see readily where the common connection point is. I may have to take
the wires off of the end of the winding to see. They are all roped in. If we
could take the common point apart this would be an easier job..... It may
come to that.....

Thanks for your comments.

Will,

I am just curious here - Is the common connection point of the 7, 8, 9 wye
accessible such that you could get a voltmeter probe on it?

I am just wondering out loud to myself if the induced voltage between it
(i.e., the common connection point) and say wires 1 (or 2 or 3) could be
measured if you were to put say a "small" test voltage across any two of the
three pairs of 1, 2 and 3 wires? If access to this point is not available I
will stop my wondering down this path.

Hello;

Additional information, the three remaining wires, which are 7,8, and 9 on
the motor nameplate are wye connected.

This motor is rated at 460/230 volts, 3 phase, 3 hp, Century motor.

Hello;

I am in the middle of creating a 3 phase converter. My father purchased a
second hand 3 phase motor last week. We started to look at the motor today.
There are 9 wires coming out of the motor. Only three of the lines have
markers on them, 1,2,3. We have found their mates, which we believe are
4,5,6 with an ohm meter.

The question we have is how can we find out which of the three wires is 7,8,
or 9?

Regards;

Will Powell
