Hey Farmer,  I don't know hardly anything about that region so feel free to 
ignore but have you looked at it on Mapquest.com?

They send you on up to Clevland and Buffalo and across NY through Albany. 
My guess is that it keeps you out of the worst  of the mountains.   If Cecil 
Monson was still with us he could tell you for sure.

Don't mean to dismiss what others have said.  I just looked at Mapquest out 
of curiosity and thought I'd pass it along.
