If you have enough snow removal that you are worried about wearing out a
425, then you shouldn't be looking at a used light duty tractor.  Also, If I
spent that much money on a 425, I would be using it as much as I could.
Any decent light duty tractor and blade or blower will also cost you as much
as just getting the accessory for your JD.

I need to do something different for snow removal at my home.  I have a
large cul de sac driveway, and then a pretty good driveway to the road.  I
had been using an old Sears rider with a single stage blower, but it is less
than reliable anymore, and parts are no longer stocked for it.  I have been
debating putting a blade or 2 stage thrower on my JD 425.  Depending on
what's available at any given time, the used costs for everything I need
runs between 1000 to 2000, depending on whether I go blade or blower, and
whether there is an ebay auction for the equipment that is located close
enough for me to drive and pick it up.  I started thinking (dangerous, I
know) that maybe I should consider an older light duty tractor instead.  I
realize that this would be a whole different animal, and the JD 425 would
probably be more reliable to use initially, but I wonder if using the 425
for snow duty might use it up rather quickly.  Any thoughts?
