[AJD] battery posts

I have, on occasion, access to some free batteries.  The batteries come with 
studs only, no standard posts. I dont want to cut my cables and am looking 
for "screw-on" lead posts. I have been to NAPA, other auto stores, marine 
stores and nobody has such an item.

Anyone ever see such a device?

The other possibility is to cut off posts from old batteries, drill, and cut 
threads in the lead post and screw them on.  Any secrets for cutting threads 
in lead?
