[AJD] Light mounting on 39 hand start B

I don't remember what K-W stood for, but they made a lot of electrical parts
for automobiles of that vintage. They were a major provider for those
wooden boxed coils in Model T Fords, for example. I think they made
electric motors, generators, spark plugs, probably a lot of other early auto
electric stuff. So to find that KW made an aftermarket lighting system for
tractors would be very consistent with their market.

Chris:

There may be an alternative for lighting that I hadn't thought of before. In
the repair catalogs I mentioned earlier, there were K. W. Lighting kits
offered for the B's. I don't recall at the moment what the K. W. stands for.
Nor have I ever seen any of the components on a RC crop styled B. There
probably are others on the list who know more about this lighting set-up. If
I've seen this lighting kit on other JD tractors I didn't recognize it as
such. So much to learn about these rusty relics.

Dean,

No you are right on, I had not re-read your article at the time I
replied to your e-mail. It would appear that I answered my own question
when I asked it. Can't be done without retrofitting the tractor. I thought
maybe there would be something like the H light bar that clamps onto the
steering column to add lights without a drastic remodel of the tractor. Do
you happen to know what the part number would be of the kit that you had to
order for a 39 B to convert it? Just curious, I think I am just not going
to operate the 39B in the dark...

On the wheels, I am looking find a narrower set of wheels for the 44A.
It already has 12.4-38 wheels that are beyond repairable. I bought a set of
pressed steel wheels that will take the 12.4-38 up to 15-38 tires, but they
look pretty goofy with the 12.4 tires on them. Just exploring options.

               Chris
