[AJD] Mystery JD 4 cyl.

My Fageol tractor has a four cylinder Lycoming engine
and it looks nothing like the "mystery " engine.

The timing cover on the mystery engine looks very much
like the cover on the Hercules IXB engine in my Silver
King and and also like the timing cover used on the
Hercules NXB engines in the JD L. The 4 cylinder IXB
and two cylinder NXB used the same pistons and
connecting rods. Some other parts, such as the timing
cover, were at least similar, if not the same. I am
not sure that the mystery engine is an IXB. It might
be, but it looks smaller in relation to the magneto
and fan. Hercules did make smaller 4 cylinder engines,
but I am not too familiar with them. The smaller model
was a ZXB.

Regarding the manifold, most Hercules IXB engines do
have "Hercules" cast into that part. However, my
restored Silver King has "Silver King" cast into the
manifold and I have a parts Silver King that has a
manifold with no name cast into it.
