[AJD] Mystery JD 4 cyl.

Richard,
I think the gas tank (and engine) are from an early JD combine. I have a
collection of combine literature but it will take some looking to figure it
out. It is NOT a JD engine - they used various brands on their early
combines, but the gas tanks looked like that. Is there any hint - casting
name or numbers - that would help pin the engine down? Of course, someone
may know and that would be great!

Hmm - a quick check shows a similar gas tank on the JD No. 7 8-ft combine.
It used a Hercules IXB 4 cylinder engine with an eight gallon gas tank. The
engine manifold has Hercules cast into it. As I recall the gas tanks were
painted red.
