Hey Chris,
It's coming along pretty well. I've got the engine back
together, the radiator ready to go on and the frame primed. The
carburetor came in today and being rebuilt by Burrey's. I'm holding
out trying to find a used set of rice and cane tires. I want to get
tires put on and tow it around for a while with diesel in the
cavities to help wash out the rest of the sludge. Thought the other
day about borrowing a belt from someone and belting it to one of my
other tractors to turn everything while it is blocked up in the shop.
It was so cold here this weekend that I didn't even go down to the
shop yesterday (but it was Daytona race day anyway so that worked
out!). I added a couple of pictures to my Fotki album of the
temporary paint booth I made (user name twilson17 or search for tag
"John Deere AR").

You don't happen to have the curved metal pieces (top and
bottom frame assembly) that go above and below the front screen on
your parts tractor that you don't need, do you? The bottom one was
rusted away and the top one got thrown out in some scraps that went
to the dumpster during an infrequent day of trying to clean the shop
up a bit. I'd be interested if you want to get rid of them. How about
yours? Any pictures yet? I guess your tractor play time has been cut
back now that your wife is home. That's a good thing! Glad she made
it back safely.

By the way, I meant to send a note out that bought a used
block from Merle Wayne and met him when we went to pick it up. A
really nice guy and my wife and I enjoyed our short visit. Thanks again Wayne.
