It is very important to keep the piano as close to room temperature and 
humidity as you can.   Wood moves more than iron when the 
temperature/humidity changes.    So try to plan your trip for a spring day 
when it isn't raining.    Get plenty of help on both ends.

Consider professional movers if this is valuable.  (It sounds like it is not), 
as they have air conditioned trucks.   Remember to check them though, as 
someone else noted bad movers can drop things just as easy as anyone else.
