LOL!  I don't think you're going to get the force out of a hand pump
from Harbor Freight or anywhere else to rivet a half-inch diameter
rivet, Walt.

John I use a 4.5 grinder to knock the heads off  then a punch will take
them 
out very easily.  Think about getting a  Hydraulic ram and hand pump
from 
Harbor Freight and making a simple tool to set  the rivets.
