that is how belarus got into tractors was the IH variations, apparently the
4.7 litre 4 cylinder motor in the MTZ/belarus tractors was IH origin, just
modified to suit

belarus was just the marketing company formed by the russian governing body
to market and export products from the 6 tractor factorys in the country at
the time

i i forget the name of the factorys

i think there was kirovets (went out on its own lately, designed another
export tractor, of world class std), MTZ (most common belarus tractors
70-90hp), LTZ, Khahov? (Ukraine ?), and minsk

http://www.belarusguide.com/industry1/MTZ.htm

pretty sure the russians built something based on the F series farmall, and
called em the universal?.......then they went on to a M variation

this is the best IH Neuss site i have found

http://homepages.compuserve.de/matbush1710/z_english/e_tractors.htm

in my opinion some of the nicest IH tractors ever built come out of the
german factory, including the 956 and 1455, pitty america never got those
ones

i will see if i can find the history pages with the IH tractors in russia

greetings

matthew

I would like to know something about the russians IH tractors, i worked with
a MTZ or Bielarus, and found, in the mid seventies that the Bielarus
tractors were similar to a British B-450 or a Farmall M too.
