    Steve, Janelle and Wendy;

I too want to express my sympathy and condolences to Steve and his family.
    Having known John from our Portland visits, I know he was a fine young 
man who I considered a personal friend.
    We know that now words will only help and the thoughts and consideration 
from friends is a powerful start to the long process of healing.
    My prayers to your family and I am only a phone call away at any time.
