If its smoking real bad its one of two things. Bad or broken oil rings/ring
or really loose valve guides.

Changing the head only proved that its not the valve guides or both heads
had bad valve guides.
I would do a compression test mark down the results then add oil to the
cylinders and test again mark down results. If the same then valve gudies
would be suspected. But hold on if the compression rings are good and the
oil ring is broken or worn or stuck in the piston then the only way would be
to remove the suspect piston and look at it.
Look at the spark plugs if one is darker than the others then this may be
the culprit. Go online and lookup spark plug to find a site that shows the
proper look for a good running engine.
