Condensor will not be affected by the 6 volt system difference.  The
voltage 
spike across the condensor is actually much higher than that.  I would, 
however, be a little suspicious of the condensor as with today's quality

control systems and manufacturing standards they tend to either be bad
right 
out of the box or fail quickly.  If it does not fail quickly, it usually

lasts forever.  Also, look for a pinched wire around where you were
working 
when you replaced the condensor.  Also, as Mike said, clean and adjust
the 
points.
