Michael,
Now you know the reason Dad would not let me check plant the field in front 
of the house, next to the road!!  Actually, at the end of the row you pull 
up the wire stake, shake it to move the wire, pound a post in the ground and 
use a scale and come-along to get the same tension on the check-wire so the 
rows are even :) ....
