We got a ltitle over a 1/2" yesterday. About 30 miles from me got 2.5". That
1/2" will really help the wheat which has just started showing heads. Gonna
be a short crop--saw some heads that aren't a foot off the ground.
Getting ready to plant beans in about 3-4 weeks--not a fun task when you are
in a drought. I have been having problems getting the row openers in the
ground when it is dry. After some "testing" we determined my springs have
gottten considerably weaker compared to new ones. I ordered all new springs
and we are going to add a little more tension to each spring. If that
doesn't work I'll have to buy a double spring unit for each row
opener---That will cost me about $1,000 to convert the drill over. We have
already added all the weight to the drill we can. I can get the coulters in
but the row openers are another story.
