If you look very closely at the image of my Jim Dandy, you will see that
I cut away the top of the sheet metal piece that formed the trans cover
and foot rests. That was so I could pop the shifter off and lever the
transmission back into neutral; I used to carry a wrench and big
screwdriver with me for just that purpose. I didn't have a welder then,
so I finally gave up on that kind of fun and bought a new shifter.
