90% of what I burn is ash.  The timber was sold off Gramma's place back
in '79.  Most of the newer
growth is ash and hard maple.  The emerald ash borers arrived here
several years back and now the
ash trees are all dead or dying.  There are a few white oak tops left
from the logging that have
rotted down to heartwood.  That stuff is outstanding firewood.

I agree with the poem John but you can hardly get an Ash axe handle or
baseball bat these days.  Let alone any good Ash firewood.
