Charlie, we already had corn down this morning in SE Duplin County. Had
Farmer's Day in Richlands and there was actually dust at the tractor
pull!! Wind was strong all day and must've gotten stronger last nite.
The spot that is down (That I have seen, haven't been and looked at all
our fields yet) looks to me like it must've been a straightline wind.
One wide strip across two fields, of course one of them is small and
whatever it was pretty much laid the whole field down.

Our guy is supposed to show up this week to pick corn. Hope no more is
down then but this is not a good start. If we only owned a combine we
could be half done by now. Hard to make a good machine pencil out on
200 acres though....

Al

The computer models I'm looking at on weather underground put it at cape

lookout on Wed. morning. Who knows. Doesn't look like it will be a
bad
one but the wind has been blowing about 25 to 30 out of the NE all day
today. That backs the water up into the sounds and rivers such that we
already have about 3 feet or so of extra tide before the storm surge
even
gets here.

I was in Charleston a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to see that
they
have replaced the old high Hwy 17 bridges with a new lower 8 lane job.
