I can understand your lack of willingness to drive 6 hours to determine 
whether the implement would work. What I have heard other people do is 
offer to send the seller a disposable camera, with return postage and 
label, and have the seller take pictures of what he is selling and 
return the camera for processing at your local 1-hour service. You are 
probably looking at maybe $15-20 expense for the whole deal.

Or there might be an ATIS member in the area who could find the time to 
take a look at it for you.
