2nd Chance offer is a great resource. If people would only use the
resources available, No one would get fooled by a fake second chance
offers.
I use My ebay and part of it includes My Messages. It contains all
questions that bidders ask of sellers, valid second chance offers, and
special promotions. When I get a second chance offer via email, I
automatically check on my ebay page to see if it is legit. If not, it
gets filed. Take a look at "my ebay". It is a great tool to watch items
that you want to see what they sell for even if you don't bid.
I have in the past setup a second yahoo email account to play with the
jokers via email. I love it when you live a few towns away from the
advertised location and they want to ship it...It is fun entertainment for
a few hours/days. They don't know that they didn't send the original
email to that address...
Steve - ebay user since '98.

A good education for me here. Ignorance is bliss! I recently sold an item
on Ebay that I had more than one of even though I only had auctioned one
at the time. I sent a 2nd chance offer to the second highest bidder since
it was acceptable to me and only 50 cents lower that the first one.
Re-listing another one would have cost that much.
Up till now I was not aware of the fraudulent scheme related to 2nd chance
offers. Now I know. Ve get too soon oldt and too late smart!
