There's something wrong with the numbers given in the HF ad. They say 12
Volts, 37.5 Amps, 1.8 horsepower. That's not even close. 37.5 amps times
12.6 volts gives 472.5 watts, which is about 0.6 horsepower (760 watts per
hp).

A winch that draws less than 40 amps is a toy. The Warn 8K or 9K winches
that John and I recommend draw about 200 amps fully loaded. That works out
to about three and a third horsepower. And there are times when even the
real 9K winches are marginal in power. Particularly if the tractor has
three or four flat, hard tires.

For $300, I'd predict that you are buying a grossly underpowered motor
driving gears made of mild steel. Loading tractors is perhaps the most
dangerous aspect of our hobby. Your safety is very much dependent on the
quality of the winch you use. This is a bad area in which to try and save
money.
