Chris:

I don't know what parts catalog you are referring to but my Parts Catalog
for the Styled A's shows 4 different hoods:

AA1781R (477000-487999)
AA2257R (488000-583999)
AA3945R* (584000- ) Hood (All Fuel only)
AA3946R (584000-655571) Hood (Gasoline only)

* Also used on gasoline burning tractors 655572-662728 equipped with
Auxiliary gasoline tank.

Data from PC-675-(3-60) on an original JD CDRom DB1293

   Dean,

I am measuring the hood on the pulley side,
with the intrument panel and grills off end of metal
to end of metal.

I was reading in my Model A book last night and
it mentions a lengthening of the wheel base in the
early styled A, but has no mentions of a change in
the hood. I was also hoping to see an example of a
gas only A from that era but they only had al fuel's
pictured.

I would imagine that this hood is from an early
styled gas only A, but my parts book fails to
indentify that there was an all fuel hood and a gas
only hood.

                            Chris
