Chris:

How are you measuring the hoods. End of metal to end of metal or the length
of the hood that would show if the rear end (instrument) cap and grills were
installed?

Subject: [AJD] Identifing a styled A hood.

Quite some time ago, I bought a styled A hood off
of Ebay. It sat in storage for several months, then
I got around to trying to mount it on the tractor I
intended it to go on. A late styled A, over serial
number 584,000. To my dismay, it did not fit, and
my presumption that all styled gas only A hoods are
the same (except those with the battery in the hood)
was blown.

So, I am studying my parts book, and measuring
hoods.. All the late Styled A's that I have are 49
7/8 inches long on the side. This paticular hood is
48" long. So I am guessing that if there is such a
think as a 'short framed A' that this is the one. My
parts book identifies two hood parts numbers that it
could be, AA1781R for serial numbers 477000-487999 or
AA2257R for 488000-583999. However, my parts book
does not specify All fuel of gas for either of those
serial number ranges, and it should shouldn't it?

So to sum it up, I have a Styled A hood, only
one gas tank hole, that measures 48" long on the side
of the hood.. Too short for any of my late styled
A's.. Any help greatly appreciated! Or, if you need
it, I don't! I am sure we can work something out!

                  Chris
