You're really into sweet things at your side of the pond. I'd prefer some
tasty sausages or smoked pork, the kind that comes from the side of the pig
with the rind still there or almost anything else that is salty and smoked
(lamb, deer, rhinedeer, fish, etc.)

OK so we've established that apple sauce with pork is in fact the norm.  How
about a snickers bar with a can of cold shim stock?
Don't knock it until you've tried it.
