[AJD] Unusual 430 "W"?? on ebay

I think you are on the right track, let's find out if the tractor is a "W".
Did the "W" have the square adjustable front axle.  My 430U has a round
front adjustable front axle.

In looking at the pictures again, I don't think it's a "U".  On my 430U, the
rear axles have a reduction gear, the one in the picture, I don't see the
reduction gear.

I couldn't figure out what was originally under the "W". I need to get out
JR's book on the Dubuque's or 30 series to find out what designations on the
serial numbers were used at the factory. 

It also appeared to me that since the tractor had a wide front end that the
serial # plate had been modified to a "W" from something else. It also looks
to me like the serial number needed a leading "1" but couldn't make that out
either.

Looks like an owner that is not familiar with the JD 430 line thinks that a
tractor with a wide front end should be a "W" instead of a "U".  Weren't
there less "430U" models made than the "430W" models?
