Yep, you are!  :-) But I grew up in Iowa and we always had apple sauce with
pork as well. So strangeness is not unique to Connecticut or those of us who
now live in the NW!

Apple sauce was always served in my family's house with pork chops 
growing up. Apples go well with pork.

Apple butter is also common where I come from. We used to have it on a 
sandwich with peanut butter.
