It got here today att 5:50 in the morning so it was a bit icy. Today was the
first day of temperatures below zero Celcius for a more than a month.
On an other topic we discussed recently about insulation, today I met a
salesperson from a company that makes foaminsulation. I brought up the
question of thickness and of course he is a salesperson so he gladly sold
300mm but he had the latest recommendations from Boverket(The swedish agency
of living/buildings), the energyagency, and the consumersagency (Right, yeah
we have a lot of agency's and taxes) and their recommendation was to use at
least 250mm (10") when you have a heated concretefloor. Even more they also
recommend one board of insulation a little bit beneath the groundlevel
around the outside of the concrete (Ifyou don't get it look at the
illustration at bottom of page 3 of the document
http://www.boverket.se/novo/filelib/nedladdn/golvvarme.pdf and I'm sad to
that there are no page 3 girls there). This is to prevent from the frost in
the ground (why don't you have one short word for it like we do, "tjäle") to
get beneath the wellinsulated foundation and damage it. Of course this is a
crazy Swedish thing ;-) But if you have to pay for the source of heating it
should be worth considiring and absolutely in the cold places in north of
the USA (I've seen Peter Stormare freeze in Fargo).

The master in the art of living makes little distinction
between his
work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and
his body,
his information and his recreation, his love and his
religion. He
hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision
of
excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide
whether he
is working or playing. To him he's always doing both.
