[Steam-engine] feedwater injector

Howdy all;
  I just won a 3/4" Detroit injector on ebay and now am told it won't work 
on my small boiler..my ports are 1/2", but can't fathom why this won't 
work...........or is it just overkill??

  Could someone please explain.
