I believe that you can get a 7/16"(?) wrench in there, next to the back 
and  unscrew it from the filter housing. It may not be obvious due to 
oil/grease/dirt built up in that area. If not, then I guess you will 
just have to put a piece of old inner tube around the outside and use a 
large slip joint pliers on it. It may come out easier then you think. 
Replacing the glass, however, may not be all that easy a job, and you 
might want to consider replacing the whole gauge...
