[AT] hayride accident

I lost a neighbor, his wife and his son about 10 years ago when he drove 1/2
mile from his house at 11:00 pm to check on a Bobcat that another neighbor
had run over. A drunk teenager ran over all 3 of them only sparing the
Daughter who had gone back to the van to warm up. The teenager was let go
on probation after trial because the van was on the srong side of the road.
However, there was a 35 mph speed limit and you could see the van and
warning flashers from 1/4 mile away.
It made no sense what so ever.. I drive over 100k a year within the state
of OKlahoma. There is no limit to the stupidity I witness with sober
drivers..

I cannot fault the tractor driver on this one. He may have only had to
drive a mile on a highway. He should be able to drive on that highway
without fear of being run over by some idiot that can't keep his mouth off a
bottle during work hours!!! Driving a semi requires more that full time
attention when sober.... I know I drive anything that has wheels from the
riding lawnmower to crane trucks and triples.

Oklahoma has tried to reduce traffic congestion during construction projects
by working at night. This is more efficient for the crew as it is cooler in
the summer. The night construction is now a pemium cost because so many
construction workers were killed by drunk drivers. Even with Highway Patrol
cruisers setting directing traffic. One Patrolman was nearly killed by a
drunk driver.

My Dad & I were returning from feeding cattle late one night and found a guy
stuck in a ditch. He had run off the road. When I went to hook up the
chain to pull him out, I found he was too drunk to get out of the car. I
pulled the keys out of his ignition and threw them in the ditch. Told him
to walk if he got cold! Went home and called the sherrif....

Since I got my CDL, I treat with as much respect as my Professional
Engineering license.

Sorry just had to vent...
