In our local paper there was a report of a hayride where a semi truck hit a
tractor toting a trailer full of hay and people. there were injuries, and
fatalities.. smv apparently.. but no trailer lamps.

I can't understand why people running hayrides don't hook up trailer lamps.
it takes 5-10 minutes.

On my 6v tractors, I set a 12v 'car' battery on the front of the trailer,
and using 14awg hookup wire and gator clamps just wire right from the
battery and strip the wire, fold it over and shove it into the trailer plug
and instantly have trailer lamps. I also keep a spare blinker module, and
hook it in line with the blinker wire.. so I have running and blinking
lamps on the trailer. I also usually throw a 450watt invertor on the
trailer and put up some sparkle lamps for decoration.. or those auto style
12v neon lamps for ilumination for singing / caroling.. etc. like i said..
takes 5 to 10 minutes to rig this up..

One of my SMV signs is glued to a big magnet, and i slap it on the back of
the trailer, in addation to the smv sign on the tractor.. etc.

I do a hayride 1-2 times a year.. safely...
