That is the book you would want to look at to id the roller.
The roller on the book cover is a Buffalo-Springfield, one of the biggest
makers.
The spotting features you mentioned are consistent with that id.
Just based on production quantity, there is a high probability that any
tricycle roller
you see with a similar configuration is a B-S.
Many of the other manufacturers' rollers were adaptations of their traction
engines,
usually with a single cylinder. About the only adaptation made was replacing
the front wheels with a single drum wheel.
