Chrysler never made a straight 8?? Who are you telling this to? They made 
straight 8s for years.  
Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, DeSoto...........ALL Part of the Chrysler Corp
There were industrial 6 and 8s. Eights are very hard to get some parts

DeSoto made a straight 8, I don't know if they were a part of Chrysler at
that time.  The Chrysler and DeSoto cars looked identical.
