[AJD] Installing Wico C Mag

Perhaps the spring was weak and when it was rebuilt a stronger spring was
installed. In any case position of the lugs should not have changed because
of rebuild. To install, first fire the mag on the #1 (top) post. At that
point the lugs will be in a horizontal position. Now turn the engine to the
top of compression stroke on #1 (flywheel side) cylinder. Line up the marks
on the flywheel (L H inpulse) with the mark on the transmission case/bearing
cage. If your tractor is a late styled version with the enclosed flywheel,
then line up the punchmark on the flywheel hub with the mark on the bottom
of the flywheel cover opening. At this point the magneto drive slots will
also be horizontal. Install the magneto, making sure the lugs and slots
mesh. Install the bolts finger tight and turn the mag as far foreward as
possible. Now turn the engine over two revolutions, lining up those timing
marks exactly again. Now go to the mag and slowly, carefully rotate the mag
towards the rear of the tractor. When the mag (impulse) clicks, stop
exactly there. Tighten the mag bolts. Your magneto is installed and
perfectly timed!! Good luck. John

before. I know when I took it off it was just about ready to fire. I
assume I just need to get it back to that position let it fire and then turn
it backwards and then put it on.
