I've yet to see an F-20 which didn't smoke at idle so
you shouldn't worry about it to much.  They were
designed to work at their governed speed not put
around in parades.  Just make sure that you work it
hard on occasion in order to keep the plugs from
fouling.  You ran into the same condition on the idle
screw that most K5 owners find.  The idle screw on
this carb controls air instead of fuel.  Opening the
screw allows more air thus leaning the mixture and
less smoke.  Mine still smokes even when I take the
screw out completely.  This may not be right but it
runs and pulls very well.
