I primed mine with epoxy enamel.  Thought about using a fuel tank
sealant 
product, but was afraid that it wouldn't hold up to ethylene glycol,
water 
and high temperatures.

It's a real eye opener to see how much rust develops in the lower
radiator 
tank and the engine block on tractors that didn't use antifreeze.  Lots
of 
damage, as well as clogged passageways.
